It's easy to do in your spare time, and many people have a lot of these kinds of materials just lying around their home or business as it is. If you have been thinking about getin started with metal recycling, you should consult some other resources. We've written prior material on How to get the best value when wire recycling so I won't rehash those topics. Instead, I'll focus on some of the basics around recycling and how it works.

First, you bring your scrap metal directly to our facility when you are ready to begin. We have all the equipment necessary to properly measure and sort your materials. Here is a small list of some of the copper and aluminum materials we commonly recycle for reference:

  • #1 and #2 copper
  • bare wire
  • plated copper
  • Mixed low copper (MLC) aluminum
  • Car and truck rims
  • Painted sidings
  • Venetian blinds
  • Soft drink cans

We recommend as a beginner to start with copper and aluminum materials for recycling because (as you can see from the list) many of the materials can be commonly found around the home, or just discarded in public areas. By cleaning up those locations, you can acquire a decent amount of scrap copper and aluminum to refine that will get you far on your way to being successful.
